  • Re: Attaching fired pmc3 pieces to one another

Art Magazine has kindly posted a video showing the process for making lavendar oil paste. http://www.artjewelrymag.com/art/default.aspx?c=a&id=907 I also found the recipe in the Journal Of The PMC Guild, Summer edition. http://www.pmcguild.com/print/Fusion/Fusion_1.pdf

  • Some new techniques with Metal Clay

Hi! Over the year, I've been experimenting with a technique I call Negative Space Caning. It involves creating filigree, chambers for enamel or polymer inlay, and patterns easily duplicated for tessellating designs by combining Metal Clay and a combustible material that disappears after firing in...

  • Re: Attaching fired pmc3 pieces to one another

I have used plain old paste to attach two fired pieces. I have also used ACS oil paste and more recently have been using homemade lavender oil paste. I've had success with all three methods but am now exclusively using lavender oil paste. I don't know why it works, but it does. The formula is...

  • need advice on digital controllers to upgrade my manual kiln

I've been working pretty successfully with a Jen-Ken GS manual kiln for some time, but I think it's time to upgrade to a digital controller. (Ok, the truth is I fired a load of pieces into a puddle of fine silver & glass goo the other day . I don't trust the analog pyrometer reading anymore...

  • Re: Authentic Sea Glass in Fine Silver

I think this pice is a nice start to adding your sea glass to Metal Clay. If you are interested in adding it without firing. I would consider cold connections. Bezels, prongs, rivets. I have a couple tutorials and MC tips on my website that may add more ideas to your tool box. Go to the tips and tutorials...

  • Re: Wings of Flight

Alice and Beadme, Thanks for your encouraging words. I do love to work with Metal Clay and the titanium is very inspiring. Because the Ti is colorful and often sculptural, each piece speaks to me in different ways, however this line of jewelry is always inspired by themes of strength and empowerment...

  • Think about visiting Tucson for the gem and mineral (and jewelry, tools, metals, wire...) shows! The Art Jewelry editors are.

It's November, and here in the Art Jewelry offices, our thoughts are turning to the Southwest — not because our Wisconsin locale means we've already got snow in the forecast, but because in February, the city of Tucson, Ariz., is inundated with countless vendors from every facet of the jewelry...

  • Re: Shrinkage problems when attaching fine silver bezel wire to pmc base

To use your existing FS wire try this method I developed for myself Before you begin make sure the stone can come in and out of the bezel...
